Chetan and Aparna out

New Delhi: Denmark's World No. 3 Peter Gade ended Chetan Anand's run in the Singapore Open badminton championship on Thursday. Anand lost to Gade 15-4, 15-3 in just 26 minutes.

In women's singles, Aparna Popat lost in the second round to Hongyuan Pi of France 11-3, 11-8 in a match that lasted 32 minutes.

Indians also crashed out in the first round of doubles action. In men's doubles, Lars Paaske and Joanas Rasmussen of Denmark defeated Sanave Thomas and Rupesh Kumar after a tough fight 15-4, 15-13 in 46 minutes. The women's team of Shruti Kurian and Jwala Gutta went down to Fei Hui Chin and Pei Tty Wong of Malaysia 15-6, 15-8 in half an hour. — PTI
