Dr Sachdeva

NEW DELHI: President A. P. J. Abdul Kalam will confer the Dr. B C Roy Award on Dr. Anupam Sachdeva, consultant and in charge of paediatric, haematology and oncology at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital here, on Friday. Dr. Sachdeva is being awarded for his pioneering work in the field of childhood cancers and blood disorders.

IMA get-together

NEW DELHI: On the eve of Doctor's Day, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit hosted a get-together for office-bearers of the Delhi Medical Association on Thursday evening. Asking doctors to be a role model for society, Ms. Dikshit appealed to them to give 10 per cent of their time to free service and to look after the weaker sections of society, especially women.

Urs transit camp

NEW DELHI: A transit camp will be set up at Burari Ground in North-Delhi from July 29 to August 20 for Urs pilgrims bound for Moinuddin Chisti. This was decided at a meeting held under the chairmanship of Delhi Development Minister Raj Kumar Chauhan here on Thursday.

Mr. Chauhan instructed the officers concerned to ensure adequate DTC buses, PDS outlets, Apna Bazar, dairy booths and kerosene depot at the camp. Last year over 20 lakh pilgrims of Ajmer Urs had availed of the accommodation at the camp.
