Mask is off, says Congress

Special Correspondent

Fernandes' visit to RSS headquarters in Nagpur draws flak "It is the RSS which `dictates, directs, reprimands and removes' while claiming to be a cultural organisation"

NEW DELHI: A day after the visit of National Democratic Alliance convener George Fernandes to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh headquarters in Nagpur, the Congress on Wednesday said "the mask was off" and it was clear that the Bharatiya Janata Party-led coalition was a "servile subordinate" of the RSS.

We have always maintained that the NDA was an opportunistic alliance forged to capture power. Now the mask is off. The BJP is as it is in a state of utter disarray. Its leadership is confused and unreconciled to its rejection in the Lok Sabha elections.

The NDA could not have remained insulated from the pathetic state of affairs of the dominant party," party spokesperson Anand Sharma said. Such being the case, Mr. Fernandes' visit to the RSS headquarters underscored the fact that it was the RSS which "dictates, directs, reprimands and removes".
