BANGALORE: Two armed men robbed two software engineers of cash and a mobile phone in Banaswadi police station limits in the early hours of Thursday. Police said that around 4 a.m. two youths, who came on a motorcycle, collided against the motorcycle on which the two software engineers, Amruth Mukherjee and Susmitha Bannerjee, were riding on Banaswadi Main Road. As Amruth and Susmitha fell, the two youths threatened them with a knife and robbed them of Rs. 400, a mobile phone and credit cards.
Travel agent robbed
In another incident on Wednesday night, four persons, who came in an autorickshaw, robbed a travel agent of Rs. 10,000, a gold chain and a mobile phone. Police said that around 10 p.m. Balaji, who runs a travel agency in Jayanagar, slowed his motorcycle at a traffic signal in Chamarajpet. A youth, who was seated in an autorickshaw that had stopped at the signal, jumped out of the vehicle and sat on Balaji's motorcycle. He threatened him with a knife and made him drive towards Kamakshipalya. On reaching an isolated place, the youth and his three accomplices, who had trailed the motorcycle in the autorickshaw, threatened Balaji and robbed him
Cement bags, steel stolen
Around 25 people who came in a lorry made away with 50 bags of cement and a huge quantity of steel from a construction site in Hebbugodi police station limits in the early hours of Thursday. The police said that 12 labourers were sleeping at the construction site at the Bommanahalli industrial area. Around 1 a.m. the gang that came in the lorry threatened the labourers and took away the cement bags and four tonnes of steel. The Hebbugodi police have registered a case.
Woman ends life
A woman committed suicide by hanging herself at her house in Sriramapuram police station limits on Thursday morning. The police gave her name as Suguna (22). She had married Sreenivasa, an autorickshaw driver and a resident of Hanumanthapura, seven months ago. Suguna's mother, Maheshwari, has lodged a complaint with the police that her daughter committed suicide as her husband had tortured her for more dowry.
