S-I killed in accident

NEW DELHI: A traffic police sub-inspector was killed on the spot, on Rohtak Road, after being hit by a carrier truck at around 6 a.m. on Thursday.

According to the police, the deceased, Bhagirath, was posted at the Gandhi Nagar traffic circle and was on his way to work from his Madipur residence when the incident took place. The truck driver, Jugal Kishore, a resident of Bihar, has been arrested.

Couple found unconscious

NEW DELHI: A retired army officer and his wife were found unconscious at their West Punjabi Bagh residence on Thursday morning.

Sixtyfive-year-old Y.P. Behal and wife were rushed to a hospital by neighbours and their condition was said to be stable. According to the police, the couple was staying alone and had hired a servant ten days back. The police are on the look-out for the servant.

Boy dies of excessive bleeding

NEW DELHI: A 16-year-old boy died, apparently due to excessive bleeding, at Safdurjung Hospital on Thursday afternoon.

Bharat Sharma was reportedly hit by a speeding vehicle near Bhadarpur bus stop and was picked up by a passing Police Control Room van around 9 p.m. on Wednesday and brought to All-India Institute of Medical Sciences.

The boy died in the hospital on Thursday afternoon around 1-30 p.m. Hospital authorities refused to comment on the incident.

Protest meeting

NEW DELHI: Members of the Joint Council of Health Employees' Organisations held a protest meeting here in the Capital on Thursday against what they called "the Government's anti-people and anti-workers policies''.

Demanding that the Government pay immediate attention to the problems of health employees, the members held gate meetings at Kalawati Saran Children's Hospital and Northern Railway Central Hospital and threatened to scale up the agitation in case the Government did not pay heed to their demands.

Nepali national held

NEW DELHI: An 18-year-old domestic help, whom a Nepali national tried to assault in a Hailey Road Apartment in New Delhi on June 23, has been admitted to Lohia Hospital with the lower portion of her body paralysed. The police have arrested the accused.
