NEW DELHI: Twenty-seven children have been selected for the National Child award for Exceptional Achievement for the year 2004. The winners include eight girls from Assam, Andaman and Nicobar, Goa, Haryana, Meghalaya, Manipur, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. According to an official spokesperson here on Friday, Master Amanjyot Singh of Jaipur has been selected for gold medal award for his achievement in sports (golf). Others would be given silver medals for their outstanding performances in different disciplines. The names were finalised by a national selection committee, headed by the Minister of State for Human Resource Development, Kanti Singh. The names of the winners are: Farheen Ahmed (Assam), Jinu Alex (Andaman and Nicobar Islands), T. Sourya (Andhra Pradesh), Sunny Kumar (Bihar), Saket Dubey (Chhattisgarh), Anant Vidur Puri (Chandigarh), Akash Kapoor (Delhi), Hemendra Chhetri (Gujarat), Stefi Cardozo (Goa), Arti Yadav (Haryana), Sharath (Karnataka), Rajmohan (Kerala), Zareen Nongrum (Meghalaya), Aashay Chandrashekhar Meshram (Maharashtra), H. Laltanpuria (Mizoram), Thingujam Diana Devi (Manipur), Varun Mohapatra (Orissa), R. Thamizh Malar (Pondicherry), Minakshi Garg (Rajasthan), R. Kashyap Mahesh (Tamil Nadu), Anoop Shailani (Uttaranchal), Ashish Behara (Uttar Pradesh), Ashiq-ul-Islam (West Bengal) Shafiq-ul-Mondal (West Bengal) and Akrit Pran Jaiswal (Himachal Pradesh). The gold medal award consists of a cash component of Rs. 20,000, a citation, a certificate and a gold medal while the silver medal award carries a silver medal, Rs. 10,000, citation and a certificate.
