SANGLI: Supriya Maji of Bengal clinched the 32nd Women's National B chess championship, with eight points, after drawing her encounter here on Friday. Maji, Alka Das of Jharkhand, who was in joint lead with Maji on Thursday, and Soumya Swaminathan of Maharashtra finished level on eight points after Alka drew her last clash and Soumya finished with a victory. Supriya emerged winner with a progressive score of 54, Soumya was second 49.5 and Alka settled for the third spot with 47. On Friday, five of the six matches on the top boards ended in quick draws while Soumya beat P. Sivasankari. The top 10 players in the tournament have qualified for the National `A' tournament. The top ten: 1. Supriya Maji (Ben) 8 (progressive score 54), 2. Soumya Swaminathan (Mah) 8 (49.5), 3. Alka Das (Jhar) 8 (47), 4. H. Sowmya (TN) 7.5 (46.5), 5. J.E. Kavitha (TN) 7.5 (46), 6. I. Ramya Krisha (AP) 7.5 (46), 7. Amruta Mokal (Mah) 7 (48), 8. Swati Mohota (Ben) 7 (47.5), 9. L. Iswarya Shobana (TN) 7 (46), 10. Kiran Manisha Mohanty (Oris) 7 (45). PTI
