`Life education' programme launched

PONDICHERRY: A special multi-sectoral training on `life education' has been launched by Pondicherry Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in collaboration with Directorate of Education to develop and promote proficiency of students and the youth to enter into best careers and also in nurturing learning competency, personality development and attaining proper health care.

T. V. Mathew, a clinical psychologist in the Department of Psychology in PIMS said in a release here on Thursday that the PIMS and the Education Directorate had launched the programme to provide training to students in colleges and high schools in the Union Territory.

This was aimed at empowering the youth more particularly in the field of health care.

The programme launched in Bharathidasan Government College for Women on June 29 covered 2,500 students to start with.

Students are divided into batches with each batch consisting of 300 students to get the advantage of the training. Nutrition, Youth Psycho-social development, management of problems in learning and also in choosing careers formed part of the agenda for the training.
