Goel new Secretary, Ocean Development

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: P.S. Goel, who was director of the ISRO Satellite Centre in Bangalore, has taken charge as Secretary to the Union Government, Department of Ocean Development. During his 35 years with the ISRO, Dr. Goel played a leading role in developing the technological capabilities needed for India's indigenous satellites. He was a contender for ISRO chairmanship when K. Kasturirangan relinquished the office in September 2003.

Dr. Goel graduated in Electrical Engineering from the University of Jodhpur, received his Masters from the Indian Institute of Science and took his doctorate from Bangalore University.
