BELGAUM: The BJP Yuva Morcha has threatened to launch an agitation if the Centre failed to revoke its decision on fuel prices. Led by the Yuva Morcha's national vice-president and MLA, Abhay Kumar Patil, the party staged a demonstration in front of the Office of the Deputy Commissioner here on Saturday and submitted a memorandum opposing the increase in fuel prices. The party pointed out that the Union Government had increased the prices of fuel three times in its first year in office. This had had a cascading effect on the prices of all essential commodities and also the transport sector. It has also affected farmers whose purchasing power was coming down every time there was an increase in the price of fuel. The cost of agricultural inputs had also risen and a majority of farmers were finding it difficult to cope with the situation. The Government was misleading the people on the increase in fuel price.
