NEW DELHI: : Neelotpal Das overpowered Armenian Grandmaster Karen Movsziszian to take the lead with six points after seven rounds of the Sort International Open chess tournament at Sort, Spain, on Friday. The 13th seeded Indian enjoys half-point lead over four players including two GMs from Ukraine. With two rounds to go, Das looks well poised to gain his maiden GM-norm. In the penultimate round, Das plays seventh seeded Ukrainian IM Sergei Krivoshey. Parimarjan Negi, however, lost to Nidjat Mamedov, a 20-year-old IM from Azerbaijan. The defeat kept Negi at four points and saw him slip to the joint-20th place. The 12-year-old needs one point from the remaining rounds to attain his final IM-norm. Negi meets German IM Mathias Roeder in the next round. Special Correspondent
