Farmer electrocuted

Sangareddy: Yalala Narsimhulu, 60, a farmer died in his field at Kokkonda village of Mulugu mandal, while trying to rescue his buffalo that came into contact with a live electric wire on Saturday. Narsimhulu along with his son and daughter-in-law went to the farm to sow maize. One of his buffaloes walked stepped on a live electric wire and Narsimhulu tried to push the animal to safety but in doing so, he also received the shock and died on the spot. __Staff Reporter

blamed for delay

Kakinada: The State president of the Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS), P. Krupakar Madiga, has blamed the Chief Minister, Rajasekhara Reddy, for the delay in bringing the SCs' categorisation bill before Parliament and said that Madigas would work against the Congress in the coming civic elections. Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, he said though the State Assembly passed a resolution on December 10 recommending for a separate legislation by Parliament, the Chief Minister had failed to move the matter with the Centre. _Correspondent

ICET counselling

from July 14

WARANGAL : The admissions into MBA and MCA courses for all the colleges in the State will be held from July 14 to 21 at Hyderabad, Warangal, Guntur, Cuudapah, Tirupati and Visakhapatnam centres.

According to ICET-2005 convenor, V Gangadhar, the notification giving full details of counselling would be issued by the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education, Hyderabad, soon. Further details could be had from the council office in Hyderabad or over following telephone numbers: 040-23310395 or 93924-39677.

The candidates whose result was withheld for not paying late fee, could get their result and rank cards on payment of Rs. 400 at ICET office, Kakatiya University. Candidates without rank cards would not be allowed to attend counselling. - Staff Reporter

ANANTAPUR: The district unit of Communist Party of India on Saturday launched its `Bhoo Poratam' at Donimukkala village in Guntakal rural mandal by occupying the six acres endowment land. The party activists and landless poor led by the CPI leaders -- D. Jagadeesh and Govindu -- posted flags in the six acres land belonging to the Anjaneyaswamy temple there. .__Staff Reporter

Bt cottonseed seized

KURNOOL: Agriculture officials and police have seized 42 quintals of cottonseed containing Bt strain at a godown in the industrial estate here on Friday. The officials at Shadnagar and their counterparts here, along with the police, carried out the raid following a confession by a trader at Shadnagar that he had sourced the seed from Kurnool.

Hyderabad couple

commits suicide

NAGAPATTINAM: Inna Reddy, 55, a financier, and his wife, Therasamma, 43, of Hyderabad, who allegedly consumed poison in a lodge at Velankanni two days ago, died at the Government Headquarters Hospital here on Friday. However, their daughters, Sandhya Rani, 25, and Sheela Rani, 19, and son, Liyana Reddy, 28, who also consumed poison in a suicide pact along with their parents, are now recovering at the Government Hospital here.

TIRUMALA: Andhra Bank has set up an exclusive cellar entry darshan ticket-issuing counter outside the Vaikuntam queue complex of the Tirumala temple in addition to the already existing counter within the complex.

One killed, five

injured in mishaps

Nellore: One person died and five others received serious injuries in three separate incidents on Saturday. On the Nellore to Podalakur road near the T.B. Hospital, one man was killed when his two-wheeler was hit by a car. At Ranganayudupalli village of Seetaramapuram mandal, two persons received serious injuries when their two-wheeler over turned near a turning.
