Training for 325 recruits begins in Pollachi

Hexaware Technologies plans to achieve a turnover of $ 1 billion by 2009

POLLACHI: A 42-day residential training programme for the fresh batch of campus recruits of the global IT service provider Hexaware Technologies Ltd began at Dr. Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology (MCET) here on Saturday.

The Executive Director and President (India Operations) of Hexaware Technologies, P. K. Sridharan, and the vice-Chairman of MCET and Sakthi Sugars, M. Manickam, jointly inaugurated the Foundation Training Programme - 2005.

Three hundred and twenty five graduates from various colleges across south India will undergo the training. All the sessions are organised by professionally skilled personnel from Hexaware and the entire programme is being conceptualised and developed by HexaVarsity. Faculty from MCET will attend various sessions.

Mr. Manickam said that it was another attempt by the MCET to link the industry and academia to cater the needs of the industry and to benefit the student community. The programme is designed to prepare fresh graduates to foster their executive skills in IT-related operations and gear them for their career in

Hexaware, says Mr. Sridharan. The programme aims at developing soft skills, behavioural skills and technical skills among the trainees. And it includes yoga by Art of Living, Pollachi.

Terming the arrangement beneficial to both the MCET and Hexaware, Mr. Sridharan said that it would continue to many more years.

On choosing the college that is at a far away place, he said that the ambiance, infrastructure and climatic conditions are excellent here. He expressed the hope that the residential programme would help networking people that was important to deliver goods in an excellent manner.

Similar training programme had been held Pune for 200 fresh recruits recently. The organisation spends around Rs. 80,000 a candidate including their salary for the training.

Mr. Sridharan said the company was on an expansion mode to achieve a turnover of $ 1 billion by 2009. The company's last year turnover was $ 120 million and this year's target is $ 170 million. Every year it would recruit over 1,200 professionals.

On the first phase, the three lakh sq ft software development centre at Siruseri on the outskirts of Chennai will be ready by end of 2006, Mr. Sridharan said.
