BANGALORE: Ambedkar Bhavan in Bangalore was abuzz with activity on Friday and Saturday with "Horlicks Wiz Kids' 2005," an event organised by Activity, attracting schoolchildren from more than 100 schools across Bangalore. Into its second year, the event won a gold medal last year in the best innovation category, an award instituted by Emvies. Across India, the event reached out to schoolchildren from 25 cities from Classes I to XII. And that was about 2,00,000 students from 4,500 schools vying with each other for top honours in 40 different competitions on diverse subjects such as music, literature, dance, singing, writing, speaking, creativity, talent, art and design.
`Wiz Team' contest
A core feature of Horlicks Wiz Kids' 2005 was The Horlicks Wiz Team contest, which ran parallel to the main event. Horlicks Wiz Team is the search for the smartest and sharpest students of India. The participants were tested at the school and the city level finishing off with the thrilling national final to find India's Horlicks Wiz Team 2005. The main centres for the event were Bangalore, Chennai, Madurai, Kochi, Kolkata, Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai. The event will now travel across to sub-centres such as Thirvananthapuram, Patna, Coimbatore, Jamshedpur, Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Jaipur, Ludhiana, Chandigarh, Visakapatanam, Bhubaneshwar, Nagpur, Bhopal, Pune, Lucknow, Varanasi and Raipur from July to October.
