BANGALORE: A lottery agent, who was reported missing from Chickpet police station limits on Saturday afternoon, returned on Sunday evening. According to the Joint Commissioner of Police, M.C. Narayana Gowda, Nagaraj (32), owner of Naga Lottery Agency in Paris Corner Commercial Complex, left his shop in the afternoon to help a person distribute wedding cards. While going, he took with him Rs. 2 lakhs in cash, a chequebook, and some bundles of lottery tickets. Five persons took Nagaraj in a light commercial vehicle to some areas of the city and then took him to a place near Dharmapuri in Tamil Nadu. There the five persons made Nagaraj to sign four cheques and took away some cash. They took away the lottery ticket bundles. On Saturday night, a few among the five left the place by keeping Nagaraj in the custody of the remaining members of the gang. On Sunday, the remaining persons took food with Nagaraj and snatched the remaining money that he had. They took away his mobile phone after allowing him to call his wife. Nagaraj was left near a bus stand from where he boarded a bus and came to the city in the evening. He then went to his HSR Layout house, Mr. Narayana Gowda said. The Chickpet police have taken up a case of kidnapping and extortion. They suspect involvement of persons known to Nagaraj, Mr. Mr. Narayana Gowda added.
