BANGALORE: For 47 schoolchildren in the age group of five to 15, Sunday was an exciting day. They had a reason to be on cloud nine. Yuvraj Singh, cricketer, was there to spend a day with them, offering tips on cricket at a camp organised by the Westside store. The participants were the winners of the "Summer Carnival Contest" held in May 2005. "The opportunity to play with children is the most interesting part of this camp. Cricket is my passion and what can be better than teach them about something that I love. Since its more of an interactive session, I could share some of my personal experiences with them," said Yuvraj Singh, the brand ambassador of Westside. He shared some of the interesting secrets of cricket with the children before the game started. The players were divided into four teams. The teams were named as Yuvaraj XI, Sachin XI, Dravid XI and Shewag XI. The teams played eight matches. The first match took place between Sachin XI and Dravid XI. One of the players of Yuvaraj XI team said that he was lucky to have got an opportunity to see Yuvaraj and that he was very determined to pursue the game in future. An overjoyed Namrata Mani, 7, said: "I have been waiting for this cricket camp to begin and I had lots of fun playing with Yuvaraj. He is my favourite cricketer."
