NEW DELHI: Two prostitution rackets have been smashed by the Crime Branch of the Delhi police in different parts of the Capital in the past week. Eight people, including an Uzbek woman, have been arrested in this connection. The Crime Branch received a tip-off that one Rajesh Yadav was running a high-profile prostitution racket in the garb of a massage centre, Marya and Kavyanjali. He would reach prospective clients through advertisements in national dailies. To trap him, the police contacted Rajesh over his mobile phone and struck a deal for a woman for Rs. 20,000. He asked the decoy to meet him in a five-star hotel. Subsequently, a team led by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Kumar Gyanesh, reached the spot. The suspect arrived there in a Toyota Qualis with three young women, including an Uzbek national. During interrogation, the women allegedly disclosed that they used to give 40 per cent of the income to Rajesh. The police said the Uzbek national had come to India on a tourist visa which was valid till November 2005. In the second case, a flesh trade racket running from a beauty parlour at Rani Bagh in North-West Delhi was smashed. The pimp, Karim, and three young women were arrested. According to the police, he would get advertisements published in Hindi newspapers to attract customers.
