KOCHI: Catholicos of the Jacobite faction, Baselios Thomas I, has declared another fasting and is keeping a vow of silence in protest against the police registering non-bailable cases against 48 members of the faction in connection with the unrest at St. Mary's Jacobite Church, near U.C. College, Aluva, on Sunday. The Catholicos has been admitted to Mar Baselios Medical Mission Hospital, Kothamangalam, after he ended the indefinite fast-and-prayer sit-in on Sunday. He is refusing to accept medical aids after declaring fasting this time, said Varghese Kallappara, spokesman for the Jacobite Church, said on Monday. CPI (M) leaders Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, Thomas Isaac and M.A. Baby visited the St. Mary's Church on Monday. The issue would be raised in the Assembly, as the police action would not have been possible without the Chief Minister's knowledge, they said. They also called for a judicial inquiry into the issue.
