Interviews, exams postponed

KOCHI: The group discussion and interview for admission to the applied economics course in Cochin University of Science and Technology, which was scheduled for Tuesday, has been postponed owing to the general strike. For details, call the head of the department on 0484-2556030. All the examinations scheduled by the university for Tuesday have been postponed. The B.Tech. (old scheme) examination, at School of Engineering, will now be held on July 12. New dates for other examinations are available with respective departments, said a press release. Examinations for the first, second and third year of LL.B. (old scheme) have been postponed and will be held on August 29, August 1 and October 10, respectively.

College admission

Interviews to various degree courses at Bharat Mata College have also been postponed. These interviews will be held at 9 a.m. on Wednesday. Interviews already scheduled for that day will be held on the same day at 1.30 p.m., said a release issued by the principal. — Staff Reporter

Exhibition put off

KOCHI: The exhibition-cum-discussion proposed to be held on July 6 to 8 in connection with the Cochin City Master Plan preparation has been postponed and new dates will be announced later, said Mayor C.M. Dinesh Mani in a press release issued here. However, those interested, with contributions or suggestions to be made regarding various aspects of the city's development, are requested to submit them to the Master Plan Office at Corporation building, Kacheripadi. Pravasi award for

M. Leelavati

KOCHI: The 11th Basheer Award, instituted by Pravasi Doha, will be given to M. Leelavati, renowned literary critic. The award carries a cash prize of Rs. 35,000, a statuette designed by Artist Namboodiri and citation. Scholarships for six students belonging to financially weaker sections in the award winner's district will also be given. The award will be presented on the last week of September in Kochi.
