PACB fraud, two held

SALEM: The Commercial Crime Investigation Wing personnel on Tuesday arrested secretaries of two primary agriculture co-operative banks (PACB) in the district for their alleged involvement in forgery cases.

According to police, the secretary of the KN Pudur PACB, Ramalingam, pocketed a sum of Rs. 2.43 lakhs by forging bank documents during 2000 - 2002. In another incident, the secretary of the Adaikanur PACB, Ayyandurai, swindled a sum of Rs. 7.38 lakhs by tampering with documents while issuing crop loans to the members of the bank from 1999 to 2002.

Water supply

Residents of Valluvar Colony on Tuesday urged the district administration to regulate drinking water supply in their area. Water supply to the area has been affected for the past 10 days.

As water in a borewell that supplemented river water has dried up, they were forced to fetch water from far away places.
