BELLARY: A three-day national seminar on "Dasa-Santa Sahitya" with Bannanje Govindacharya, a renowned scholar, as its chairman, will be held at Sri Ramadhama at Pandharpur in Maharashtra from Thursday. The conference has been organised by Sri Purandara Study Chair, Kannada University, Hampi, Sri Raghavendra Swamy Mutt, Mantralaya, and Academy of General Education, Manipal. The seminar will be inaugurated by former Chief Minister Veerappa Moily. B.A. Vivek Rai, Vice-Chancellor of Kannada University, will preside over the function.
Book release
A.V. Navada's Haridasara Panduranga Vittal and Vittalaro Gayakwad's Panduranga Vittal will be released by Hi.Chi. Boralingaiah, Director of Prasaranga, Kannada University. Sudharak Santa Paricharak, Pandharpur MLA; M.S. Alwa from Mumbai; Muddu Mohan, Director, Department of Kannada and Culture; H. Shantaram, Administrator of Academy of General Education, Manipal, are the chief guests. The first technical session on "Dakshina Bharateeya Bhashegalalli Bhakti Sahityada Vikasa" will begin on Friday. Swamirao Kulkarni from Gulbarga will chair the session. The theme of the second session is "Madhyakaaleena Bharateeya Bhakti Panthagalu". Mallepuram G. Venkatesh of Kannada University will chair the session. The third session to be held on Saturday is on "Kannada, Marathi Bhakta Kavigalu". K. Gokulnath of Acharya Pathashala College, Bangalore, will chair the session.
Special lecture
A special lecture will be delivered by Vivek Ghalasasi of Solapur on "Maharashtrada Vittala Sampradaya". Chintamani Ramachandra Dhere, renowned Marati scholar, will deliver the valedictory address. P.G.R. Sindhia, Minister for Industries; Ramadas G. Athole, Pandharpur MP; Raja S. Rajgopalacharya of Mantralaya, are among the chief guests. Mr. Govindacharya will also be present. Mr. Rai will preside over the function. Renowned artistes, including Mr. Mohan, M.S. Sheela, Raichur Seshagiridas, and Vidyabhushana, will render Dasa kritis during the conference. Harikata sessions and a yakshagana on Panchavati will also be held.
