Takes measures to remove Rane from the offices he still holds

MUMBAI: The Shiv Sena took several measures on Tuesday to remove its expelled leader and former Chief Minister of Maharashtra Narayan Rane from the offices of the Leader of the Opposition and the party's legislative wing, as supporters of both sides clashed in the north-eastern suburb of Chembur.

A group of Shiv Saniks loyal to Sena Executive President Uddhav Thackeray ransacked Hotel Neelam, which is supposed to be owned by Mr. Rane. Rane loyalists attacked an office of the Sena Unit No. 184 in Chembur and prevented its new president from entering the office, said police sources.

They also attacked the office of the neighbouring unit, No. 183, and clashed with the Sainiks who were waiting for them. The police arrested eight persons.
