COIMBATORE: All efforts are being taken to enforce minimum traffic restrictions to enable smooth flow of traffic during the movement of the President, A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, when he arrives here to take part in seven functions and a couple of informal events on Wednesday, police said. The President, who arrived from New Delhi on Tuesday by a special aircraft of the Indian Air Force, would travel nearly 140 km to participate in the functions. He will leave Circuit House for Amrita Institute around 8 a.m. and would use the Avanashi Road and Neelambur-by pass road to reach Ettimadai. Around 10 a.m. he would take the same route to return to CODISSIA Intec Fair Grounds on Avanashi Road. He would then proceed to Kumaraguru College of Technology at Saravanampatti by 11.15 a.m. for which he would take the Kalapatti Road. In the morning there would be no major curbs on traffic within the City but for a small stretch on Avanashi Road from Lakshmi Mills to Neelambur bypass road junction. The police have requested motorists to avoid using the Kalapatti stretch between 10 a.m. and 1.30 p.m. On returning to Circuit House from Kumaraguru College, he will meet the members of the Green Valley Revolution. After lunch at 2.10 p.m. he will drive to the Mani Higher Secondary School in Pappanaickenpalayam via Avanashi Road for a function by Siruthuli. He is scheduled to reach Ramakrishna Hospitals via Avarampalayam Road for inaugurating the Oncology Institute around 3.30 p.m. Between 3.30 p.m. and 6.45 p.m., there would be brief traffic curbs on the Marudhamalai Road when the President visits the TNAU, Bharathiar University and goes to meet his friend, Sampathkumar at Sai Baba Colony. He would emplane for New Delhi around 7.30 p.m. Police sources hinted that the President's office had already instructed the security agencies to resort to minimum required security precautions and not to enforce any major traffic hold-ups. The security agencies will resort to only hold-up of traffic for 15 minutes before the passing of the convoy.
