This Day That Age
A statement on nuclear weapons signed by the world famous physicist, Albert Einstein, just before he died three months ago, is to be published in London on July 9. He was one of the eight international scientists who signed the statement which will be released by the British philosopher, Bertrand Russell. Shortly before his death last April, Einstein said: "I made one great mistake when I signed the letter to President Roosevelt recommending that atomic bombs be made." It was Einstein's Quantum Theory which led to the development of the atomic bomb and the hydrogen bomb which he described as "the very essence of evil."
