This Day That Age
Prime Minister Nehru on July 5 got fully acquainted with Yugoslav armed forces after he watched a military parade in his honour at Zagreb. For one hour, infantry, cavalry, motorised units, artillery and tanks filed past the tribune on the Zagreb civil airport where Mr. Nehru and President Tito sat. Jet fighters of the Air Force flew past overhead. Mr. Nehru and his party were given a rousing welcome on their arrival at Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, by train from Split. Accompanied by President Tito, Mr. Nehru then drove to the residence of the President of the Croatian National Assembly. Mr. Nehru later toured the Rade Koncar Electric Motor Works. In a long conversation with the workers, he showed special interest in the Yugoslav system of workers' self-management. He was told that the factory was just working on an order of six thermo-electric power stations to be set up in Rajasthan.
