COIMBATORE: The Bangalore-based Ace Micromatic group plans to enter the Chinese market by the end of this financial year with its Computerised Numerically Controlled (CNC) lathes. The Vice-President of Micromatic Machine Tools Private Limited, which is part of the Ace Micromatic group, T. K. Ramesh, told presspersons here on Saturday that preliminary studies by the company showed that it could be competitive in China in its CNC lathes and machining centres. China imports CNC lathes from across the world and delivery schedules were important. The company was looking for a marketing tie-up in China and having a back office. It would also participate in a CNC machinery show to be held in Shanghai next February. It hoped to sell 200 machines annually within two years of starting operations there. The Ace Micromatic group encompasses eight companies and its main products include CNC lathes, vertical machining centres, cylindrical grinding machines and machine tool automation systems. Mr. Ramesh said all its products were developed in-house and were also exported to Australia, France, Germany, Italy and the U.S. Of the annual turnover, six to seven per cent was from exports and it hoped to increase it to 20 per cent by 2010. The company would launch a new model of CNC lathe super jobber at the INTEC 2005 here to be held from July 6. This was a cost-effective CNC lathe suited for the jobbing industry.
