CHENNAI: Rainfall occurred at most places over coastal Karnataka and Kerala, at many places over coastal Andhra Pradesh and at a few places over Telangana, south interior Karnataka and Lakshadweep.

Isolated rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema and north interior Karnataka. The following stations recorded heavy rainfall in centimetres: Thodupuzha (Idukki dt.) and Vythiri (Wayanad dt.) 9 each and Karkala (Udupi dt.) 7. The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in centimetres are: Kannur, Dharmasthala (Dakshina Kannada dt.) and Kammardi (Chickmagalur dt.) 6 each, Gudalur Bazaar (Nilgiris dt.), Mavelikara (Alapuzha dt.), Siddapura (Udupi dt.), Kalasa and Kottigehara (both Chickmagalur dt.) 5 each, Valaparai, Naduvattam (Nilgiris dt.), CIAL Kochi, Thalaserry (Kannur dt.), Aluva and Paravur (both Ernakulam dt.), Kozha (Kottayam dt.), Honavar, Belthangady (Dakshina Kannada dt.) and Sakelshpura (Hassan dt.) 4 each, Kozhikode, Piravom and Perumbavur (both Ernakulam dt.), Punalur, Karwar, Puttur (Daksihna Kannada dt.), Udupi, Napoklu, Somwarpet and Ponnampet (all Kodagu dt.), Jayapura, Koppa and Mudigere (all Chickmagalur dt.) 3 each.

FORECAST (valid until Friday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at most places over coastal Karnataka and Kerala, at many places over north coastal Andhra Pradesh, south interior Karnataka and Lakshadweep and at a few places over south coastal Andhra Pradesh and north interior Karnataka. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Telangana and Rayalaseema.
