Hats off to CRPF!

One shudders to think what would have happened if the six terrorists had succeeded in their nefarious mission. Terrorists have no religion, though it is in the name of faith that they often strike.

J.S. Acharya,
Hyderabad

Thanks to the CRPF personnel who not only saved the temple but also many innocent pilgrims. Violence is not a solution to any problem. The BJP's bid to exploit the attack is unfortunate.

K.M. Abul Hasan,
Erode, T.N.

The security forces deserve unconditional praise for thwarting the terrorists' design. Those who are harping on intelligence failure and security breach should appreciate that in such a difficult situation as Tuesday's — against six madmen who were ready to die — the security forces could not have done better. The fact that the encounter took place in the outer cordon shows that the security apparatus was in place. Incidents of this nature are no doubt a blow to the nation. But given the magnitude of human presence in such places, absolute prevention is not possible.

John S. Shilshi,
New Delhi

The misadventure was obviously intended to destroy peace in the subcontinent, averted by our brave jawans.

J. Meghanath Reddy,
Hyderabad

The killing of all the six terrorists sends a clear message — the sinister designs of terrorists will be quelled.

K.V. Seetharamaiah,
Hassan, Karnataka

Reacting to the attack, the Prime Minister said "it is fortunate that the attack was foiled ... it is also fortunate that no damage occurred to the physical structures at the site of the incident." Thank God for the CRPF jawans. But for them, "fortunate" would have become "unfortunate."

R. Sudharsan,
Chennai

The day-long bandh sponsored by the BJP was needless. Bandhs do not promote communal harmony.

R. Rajesh Prabhu,
Cuddalore, T.N.
