Ignore them

Indians should be magnanimous enough to ignore the foul-mouthed utterances of Richard Nixon and Henry Kissinger. We are the inheritors of a glorious civilisation that goes back millennia. Culture and tradition evolve over years.

B. Sasisekhar,
Madurai, T.N.

While the remarks of the Nixon-Kissinger duo are reprehensible, it is relevant to bear in mind that they were made in private discussions in the Oval office. It may be interesting to know what kind of language is used in our Cabinet room discussions or private political meetings.

If the language used by politicians in our public meetings is any indication, one can imagine the language used in private meetings. By the way, how many countries make such private conversations public just after 30 years?

E.C. Thomas,
Chennai
