BANGALORE: Travel Media Networks is organising the 20th edition of the India International Travel Mart (IITM) with the support of Karnataka Tourism from July 23 to July 25 at the Kanteerva Stadium here. Apart from showcasing various tourism destinations in the country, the travel mart will also have an exclusive international section and cover many South Asian countries. The Indian traveller is emerging as the most popular tourist at international destinations in the Asia-Pacific region. Tourism studies and trends indicate that the year 2005-06 shall see travellers spending close to $ 8 million on overseas travel, according to the organisers. The forthcoming edition of the travel mart will have over 175 participants from 15 countries. Some of the countries represented at the exhibition include the United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Mauritius, and the U.K.
Marketing opportunity
The travel mart aims to provide an ideal marketing opportunity to enhance the participants' brand equity in the eyes of customers. The event is supported by Karnataka Tourism and more than 15 State tourism departments will participate in the event. Apart from tourism departments, other exhibitors at the exhibition include airlines, cruise liners, tourism promotion boards, destination management organisations, technology providers, travel agents and tour operators, hotels and resorts, health spas, Ayurvedic centres, and educational institutions.
