Hindu foundation of India under attack: Swamy

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy has described the terrorist attack at Ayodhya as an "indication that the Hindu foundation of India is under attack."

In a statement, he said the "idea is to demoralise the Hindus, make them feel impotent and lose self-esteem so that a bigger overt attack in the form of induced conversions to other faiths can be facilitated."

The attack was an "escalated test of the resolve of Hindus to defend the foundation of India."

The UPA Government should take effective retaliatory action against those responsible once the terrorists were identified, he said.
