MADURAI: : Weeks after counselling for transfers had taken place, teachers of government high and higher secondary schools, who sought transfers to places within and outside Madurai district, are still awaiting orders. Applicants are anxiously visiting the office of Chief Educational Officer here to receive the transfer order and join duty while some are keen to know whether they have made it to the final transfer list. Nearly 800 teachers, including regular teachers and those on consolidated pay scales, have submitted applications at the counselling held separately for them. School Education Department officials said on Wednesday that there was a `delay' in finalising the list as several aspects had to be taken into consideration based on seniority and priority. "However, the transfer list had been finalised in other districts and teachers have already received their orders," the officials said. There are different kinds of applications with teachers asking for transfer within and outside Madurai district. According to department authorities, the first set of transfers can be expected in the third week and the process will be completed by the end of this month. The Chief Educational Officer, K. Sridevi, is looking into the applications and postings will be finalised by her, they said.
