BANGALORE: The trio of Anju Bobby George, bronze medallist in the last World Championship at Paris, along with discus throwers Vikas Gowda and Neelam J. Singh will represent India in the World Athletic Championship at Helsinki next month. The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) secretary Lalit Kumar Bhanot announced the team at a press conference here on Wednesday. Bhanot also said that the Circuit meets scheduled to be held at Chennai (July 18) and Bangalore (July 21) will now be shifted to Delhi and Patiala. The AFI secretary also categorically announced that Bangalore will not host Senior athletics meets for some time as the tracks have worn out inside the Sree Kanteerava Stadium. A list of athletes who will train at Ukraine was also released to the media. The selected athletes: Men: 100m: Anil Kumar, Piyush Kumar, Vishal Saxena, Jagdish Basak, Jaya Chandran, B.C. Nagaraj, Sandeep Sarkaria and Vilas Neelgund; 400m: Satbir Singh, Bhupinder Singh, P.S. Sagi, K. Suresh, Abo Backer, P.S. Sreejith and P. Shankar; Shot put: Navpreet Singh and Ranvijay Singh. Women: 400m: Geetha, Chitra Soman, Manjit Kaur, Rajwinder Kaur, Pinky Parmanik, Bindhu Rani, I. Samantha and Anbu Vimala. Discus: Neelam J. Singh. Coaches: N. Ramesh, Parminder Singh, Suresh Kumar Saini, Yuri Ogorodnik, Volodymyr Ignateko, Jaswant Singh, Jagbir Singh and Yuri Minakov.
