BANGALORE: The BJP General Secretary, H.N. Ananth Kumar, on Wednesday said the BJP should be brought back to power at the Centre to build the Ram temple in Ayodhya. Addressing a public meeting organised here to condemn the terrorist attack on the Ayodhya complex and to mark the culmination of the 10-day padayatra by the State unit president of the BJP Yuva Morcha, C.T. Ravi, Mr. Ananth Kumar said it was impossible to expect the Left parties-backed Manmohan Singh Government to build a Ram temple in Ayodhya. "Ram temple could be built in Ayodhya only if the BJP under the leadership of A.B. Vajpayee and L.K. Advani is brought back to power," he said. Referring to a reported statement of the Prime Minister that "security will be tightened at Ram temple in Ayodhya," Mr. Ananth Kumar said Dr. Manmohan Singh had finally admitted that Ram temple existed in Ayodhya.
Agitation
He said the BJP would continue its nation-wide agitation until the Centre and the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Mulayam Singh Yadav, provide adequate security to the Ram Janmabhoomi complex in Ayodhya. A BJP delegation, led by its State unit President, Jagadish Shettar, on Wednesday met the Governor, T.N. Chaturvedi, and submitted a memorandum condemning the terrorist attack on the Ram temple complex in Ayodhya. Mr. Ananth Kumar said that by undertaking a padayatra from Chikmagalur to Bangalore to highlight the plight of farmers and "advasis," Mr. Ravi had set an example for other MLAs and MPs. He urged the State Government to complete all the irrigation projects in the State and take steps to check naxalite activities. Mr. Ravi, MLA for Chikmagalur, said the coalition Government in the State had failed to go ahead with the irrigation projects in Chikmagalur district that have come to a halt because of funds crunch. He also demanded that the adivasis living in the Kuduremukh and Bhadra reserve forests should not be evicted but given the "record of right" for the lands they are cultivating. He also demanded action against naxalites; houses for the poor under Ashraya and Ambedkar schemes, distribution of ration cards to poor and a solution to the CET imbroglio. Mr. Shettar, the party spokesman, S. Suresh Kumar, and the legislators, S. Raghu, P.C. Mohan, Katta Subramanya Naidu, Bopanna, Aravind Limbavali and Sunil Kumar were present.
Memorandum submitted
Later, Mr. Ravi, accompanied by his party MLAs from Chikmagalur district, Jeevaraj (Sringeri) and Kumaraswamy (Moodigere), went in a padayatra to the Chief Minister's house and submitted a memorandum to him. Meanwhile, the BJP and Sangh Parivar workers blocked roads at the Yelahanka circle here to protest the terrorist attack on the Ayodhya complex. The Hindu Jagrana Vedike activists also staged a demonstration near the Malleswaram circle.
`Shivraj Patil must quit'

They were addressing a large gathering of party workers and members of the Rasthriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Bajrang Dal, and ABVP at the Town Hall Circle, where they staged an agitation condemning the attack on the Ayodhya temple complex.
Condemned
