Special Correspondent
BANGALORE:
The Minister for Social Welfare, Y. Nagappa, tendered an apology in the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday for referring to the leader of the Janata Dal (United) group, J.C. Madhuswamy, disrespectfully during a debate on the Government Order on appointment of administrators to zilla and taluk panchayats. Dr. Nagappa questioned the objections against the order and referred to Mr. Madhuswamy in the singular. Mr. Madhuswamy, who was up on his feet, shouted at Dr. Nagappa and said: "The language you speak reflects your mind and character."Vatal Nagaraj and G.V. Sriram Reddy supported Mr. Madhuswamy and sought an apology from the Minister.
Dr. Nagappa said: "It is a slip of the tongue" and expressed regret for the remark.
