BANGALORE: The Chairman of the Legislative Council, V.R. Sudarshan, on Tuesday took serious note of the absence of some Ministers against whom business had been listed on the agenda. Mr. Sudarshan told the Government chief whip, Saleem Ahmed, that the Deputy Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, and the Ministers, Prakash Hukkeri, R.V. Deshapande, B. Shivaram and Bhagirathi Marulasiddanagowda, should be present in the House. "I do not want to play headmaster every day. Please see that the Leader of the House and other Ministers come to the House immediately and respond to the Opposition's demand," he said when the Leader of the Opposition, D.H. Shankaramurthy, sought a statement from the Government on the Ayodhya incident. Mr. Shankaramurthy said it is the responsibility of the Government to provide details to the House on the measures initiated in the light of the reported threats from terrorists being faced by the State. Barring the Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, H.S. Mahadeva Prasad, the "Government is not seen in the House," he said. Mr. Ahmed said the Leader of the House is in the Assembly and he is expected to be in the House in 10 minutes. After waiting for 15 minutes, Mr. Shankaramurthy urged the Chairman to adjourn the House till its leader arrived.
