IA launches flexible fare offer

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: Close on the heels of introducing `Monsoon Super Saver' offer, Indian Airlines on Wednesday launched `Easy Fares', a new attractively priced flexible fare offer for domestic travel.

The plan offers discounts up to 60 per cent and is a modified version of the existing special fares like Fly Select Fares, APEX fares and positioning flight fares which have now all come under the purview of Easy Fares. A unique feature of the plan , available on 85 domestic sectors, is that unlike advance purchase (APEX) fares there is no requirement of the time limit on advance purchase. The launch of the Easy Fares in the lean travel season is likely to trigger a fresh round of fare wars among domestic carriers.

Easy Fares are level based fares with a maximum of four levels and are sector specific, IA said in a release here. The fare on the Delhi-Ahmedabad sector, inclusive of taxes, will be Rs. 5,221 (Level -1), Rs. 4,221 (Level- 2), Rs. 3,521 (Level-3) and Rs. 2,921 (Level-4). The number of seats available under each class will be dynamic. Once the allocation for a particular level has been met, the next higher level fare will become automatically applicable. The number of levels could vary like only two levels of Easy Fares will be available on Mumbai-Kozhikode sector where Rs. 5,521 will be the Level-1 fare and Rs. 3,721 will be the Level-3 fare.

All tickets issued on or before July 4 under APEX fare, positioning flight fares and Fly Select Fares will be accepted on the face value of the ticket, with no refund or additional amount being charged.
