CHENNAI: Rainfall occurred at most places over coastal Karnataka and Kerala and at a few places over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and south interior Karnataka. Isolated rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema and north interior Karnataka. Dry weather prevailed over Lakshadweep. Thodupuzha (Idukki dt.) recorded a very heavy rainfall of 13 centimetres and Nilampur (Malapuram dt.) and Perinthalmanna (Malapuram dt.) recorded heavy rainfall of 8 and 7 centimetres respectively. The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in centimeters are: Perur (Khammam dt.), Kozhikode Airport, Chittur (Palakkad dt.) and Subramanya (Dakshina Kannada dt.) 6 each, Valparai, Manjeri (Malapuram dt.), Irikkur (Kannur dt.) and Bhagamandala (Kodagu dt.) 5 each.

FORECAST (valid until Saturday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely at many places over north coastal Andhra Pradesh, coastal Karnataka and Kerala and at a few places over south coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, interior Karnataka and Lakshadweep. Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Rayalaseema.
