GANDHINAGAR: The BJP has retained two Rajya Sabha seats and the Congress one from Gujarat. With only three nominations filed for the three seats from the State to the Upper House, all the three were declared elected unopposed from on the last day of withdrawal of nominations on Thursday. While for Ahmed Patel, the political adviser to the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, it will be the third term in the Rajya Sabha, both the BJP victors, Suryakant Acharya, the veteran leader and member of the party's ``think tank'', and Surendra Patel, the State BJP treasurer, will be entering the Upper House for the first time.
