NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday denied that "politics" was the reason for delay on the part of its Rajasthan Government in handing over Rs. 15.84 crores to Tamil Nadu for tsunami relief. To a question on a news report that the Vasundhara Raje Government was quick to hand over to Gujarat Rs. 5 crores for flood relief but was delaying the payment of money, donated by the people, to Tamil Nadu, BJP spokesperson Sushma Swaraj confirmed that Rs. 15.84 crores was yet to be handed over or spent on tsunami relief. "It is not politics. In the case of Gujarat the money was handed over to Chief Minister Narendra Modi, but in the case of Tamil Nadu the projects on which the money is to be spent have not yet been sanctioned by the Tamil Nadu Government," Ms. Swaraj told The Hindu. She had spoken to the Rajasthan Chief Minister. A team from Rajasthan was in Tamil Nadu to finalise the projects for which the money would be spent.
