MUMBAI: Air-India, in a bid to enhance its market share by re-positioning itself as a premium airline, is launching fourteen additional flights effective July 7 to Bangkok, Singapore, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur and Osaka. Mumbai will now be served through non-stop flights to Singapore, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur. In addition to the increase in the number of flights to almost all existing destinations in Asia, Seoul in Korea is being added as a new destination on its network. Many of the new services will also help provide connectivity between different countries in Southeast Asia. As per the new schedule, Air-India will now have 16 flights a week to and from Singapore with non-stop services from Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai and Hyderabad. While seven flights will link Chennai with Singapore, four flights will be operated from Delhi. Five services a week will be operated from Mumbai and of these, three will be non-stop and extended to connect Jakarta. The other two flights will be routed through Hyderabad. The airline will operate 11 flights weekly to Bangkok from Mumbai instead of the present six. Of these, five will be extended to Hong Kong and six will be operated to Bangkok from Mumbai via Delhi. Four of the Mumbai-Bangkok flights will proceed further to Shanghai and the other two to Tokyo. Air-India is recommencing services to Seoul after a gap of almost six years with four flights weekly from Mumbai to Seoul via Delhi and Hong Kong.
