BIJAPUR: As the inflow into the Alamatti dam continues to be substantially high, the Krishna Bhagya Jala Nigam Ltd. (KBJNL) authorities have decided to increase the discharge gradually. The discharge, which was 19,671 cusecs on Wednesday afternoon, was increased to 35,451 cusecs around midnight. It has been increased to around 50,000 cusecs, the Executive Engineer (Alamatti Dam Division), Gopalkrishna Gupta, said over the phone from Alamatti on Thursday. The inflow was 1,66,846 cusecs on Wednesday, but it dipped to 1,43,495 cusecs on Thursday. The water-level in the dam rose to 518.68 m, an increase of 0.58 m in the past 24 hours. The Narayanpur reservoir on Thursday started receiving water released from the Alamatti dam. The water-level rose to 487.96 m.
