Sex racket busted

Staff Reporter

YADAGIRIGUTTA: Twentytwo-year-old good-looking Mumtaz (name changed) dreamt of becoming an actress and leave her mark in the film industry. She had landed in Hyderabad from Yellandu in Khammam district to test her luck in Telugu film industry two months ago.

Mumtaz met 25-year-old Sudha (name changed), who also hails from the same town. They went from pillar to post for a chance to exhibit their talent but in vain. At that point of time, one Kumari met them and persuaded them to take up prostitution as a profession.Three persons -- Kolli Anand, M.V. Narayan, chemists, and B. Suresh, tailor -- brought Mumtaz to the temple town after paying Rs.1,500 to Kumari `madam.' A police team led by Venugopala Sway, SI, found the four persons moving under suspicious circumstances here.

"Kumari paid Rs.1,000 to the girl and netted the remaining Rs.500 for arranging the deal,'' the SI said. The police arrested the accused persons and and send them in judicial custody.
