TIRUPUR: New Tirupur Area Development Corporation Limited (NTADCL) has started commercial supply of water to 550-odd industrial units here after a two-month-long trial supply. The water was supplied to 550-odd dyeing and bleaching units in Tirupur two months ago on a trial basis. With the completion of intensive performance test to check the stability of the line at various points, the commercial supply has begun, sources said. NTADCL supplies water at the doorstep of the industrial units in the city.
Charge as per reading
According to R. R. Kamat, manager (operations), the meter reading started officially from the beginning of this month by Mahindra Water Utilities and NTADCL will charge for the water as per the reading given by it. NTADCL charges Rs. 45 per 1,000 litres for industrial units. Sources in the agency said they had completed reading around 400 units and the rest would be covered in a day or two. NTADCL is now engaged in series of test for the domestic supply. It will be over by this month.
