CHENNAI: Sankalp is offering a one-month foundation course for remedial teaching to handle children with learning disabilities. The idea is to provide support to school-going children of normal intelligence, who experience difficulty in reading, writing and learning mathematics. The course introduces participants to the concepts, practices and application of the various learning strategies. The focus on teaching gives insights through extensive practicals. Sankalp trainers said that medical professionals, psychiatrists, social workers and even schools were reporting and referring several children with learning difficulties.
More teachers needed
The increasing number of cases would mean that more number of trained and specialised teachers was required to tackle the problem. The course will help participants understand the development of learning skills in children, the learning challenges and their cause, the key elements in a remedial programme and become familiar with techniques to enhance the ability to read, write, speak, comprehend and think. Graduates/postgraduates in any subject fluent in English with good communication skills and who enjoy teaching and working with children, may apply. For details contact: 26182588/ 52732947.
