CHENNAI: The Consulate General of the Netherlands, Mumbai, and The Madras Film Society will jointly conduct a Dutch film festival. Six films will be screened from July 11 to 14 at the South Indian Film Chamber Theatre. The inaugural film, `Van God Los', won the Golden Calf Award in 2003 under the best film and best actor categories. The story is narrated from the viewpoint of a 17-year-old and talks about friendship and hatred. `Cloaca' is another Golden Calf people's choice winner film, which also received the best Dutch feature film award in 2003. It is an English film directed by Hollywood film star, Kevin Spacey. The plot deals with four university students who reunite after 40 years under strange circumstances. `De Tweeling', narrates the story of twins Anna and Lotte separated from their parents since childhood. After the Second World War, the sisters unite but realise how their war experiences have played havoc with their lives. The film was nominated for Academy awards in 2004. The journey of an Arab actor who wants to become a Hollywood star is the plot of `Shouf Shouf Habibi'. The film deals with the cultural differences, rejection, love and hate. `In Orange' is based on the story of Remco, a young soccer fanatic, whose father is confident that the young man will one day be a top player in the Dutch national team. But the father dies before the dream is realised and Remco gets injured. How Remco copes with the situation forms the rest of the plot. One can see a football match in which soccer greats like Garrincha, Bobby Moore and Abe Lenstra play with Remco. `A Father's Affair' is a murder suspense based on the international best selling novel of the same title. The film is a touching drama about love, honesty and trust. For more details about the festival, contact: 044-24958691.
