SHIMOGA: The District Health and Family Welfare Officer, P.M. Mohan, on Saturday emphasised need for the medical practitioners to acquaint themselves with the latest innovations in tackling the deadly AIDS. Inaugurating the two-day workshop for medical practitioners on STI-Issues in HIV/AIDS, organised by the Regional Resource Training Centre of the KMC, Manipal, and the Karnataka State AIDS Prevention Society, he said that both the preventive and curative aspects should be taken care of by the doctors in checking the spread of the HIV/AIDS. He noted that medical field which had exposed itself to the continuous research had also taken up the research on AIDS. He called for greater efforts to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS. Sugandhi Rao, Head of the Department of Microbiology at the KMC, addressed the gathering.. The president of the Shimoga Mid Town Rotary Club Satish presided over the function.
