LUCKNOW: In a major lead to the terrorist attack near disputed site in Ayodhya, the Uttar Pradesh police have tracked the shop from where the terrorists had purchased three bags to carry arms and ammunition to Ayodhya. This comes a day after the police cracked the serial number of the mobile handset used by the terrorists. The bags were procured from a shop at Kaiserbagh on July 3. The police have now confirmed that the terrorists reached Ayodhya from Lucknow. The shopkeeper confirmed the identity of three of the terrorists who purchased the bags of different colours, State Director-General of Police Yashpal Singh said. "The shopkeeper said all three terrorists seemed in a relaxed frame of mind and spoke chaste Hindi. This is another important lead in the case," Mr. Singh said. The shop was identified after the recovery of visiting cards in the bags recovered from the encounter site. A team comprising police and intelligence sleuths visited the shop on Friday evening.
Three detained
The Akbarpur police have detained three persons for interrogation. This is significant, as according to preliminary investigations, the terrorists had come to Ayodhya from Lucknow via Akbarpur. Police claimed that the terrorists had purchased the mobile phone SIM card in Faizabad town. The Amritsar address given by them at the time of purchase was found to be fake, a police officer said. Sustained interrogation of the jeep driver Rehan was in progress, sources added. UNI
