Power cut

CHENNAICHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended on Monday in parts of Kilpauk and on Tuesday in parts of Kilpauk, Chepauk, Kodambakkam, Velachery (West), Anna Salai, Tondiarpet, Mandaveli, R.K.Nagar, Sowcarpet (East), Santhome, Pudupet and Pallavaram (East) between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Training

BSNL outlets opened

Two franchisee outlets of Chennai Telephones was inaugurated on Anna Salai opposite to Kamaraj Arangam and T.H.Road, Tondiarpet, by its chief general manager, K.B.Brahmadathan on Friday. These outlets would sell India Telephone cards/Excel (pre-paid) and post paid cards, Sancharnet cards, broadband connections, landline connections and other telecom services.

Train service

Train no 2656 Chennai Central-Ahmedabad Navjivan Express leaving Chennai Central at 9.35 a.m will run up to Ahmedabad from July 10, according to a railway release.

Biscuit bandits strike again

Two youths fell victim to a "biscuit bandit" gang on Friday night.

Praveen of Mogappair and Easwar of Choolai were returning to the city by the Mumbai Mail.

They were found unconscious by officials in an unreserved compartment.

Later they regained consciousness at the Government General Hospital.It is said they were given `egg briyani' by some co-passengers at Guntakal station. After eating it they lost consciousness and

also their luggage and cash of Rs. 800.

New shopping mall

CHENNAICHENNAI: A vacant plot on Nungambakkam High Road, opposite the Income Tax office, which was one of the sought after properties in the city, will now have a major shopping and commercial mall.

It is reported that an agreement has been entered into with a mall management company, belonging to the Pantaloons Group, for the construction of a 1.27 lakh square feet-Chennai Central Mall.
