ARAKKONAM: : The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) completed its six-month training programme for 372 Jharkhand police personnel, pursuant to the tribal State's request to train its men in indoor and outdoor activities. Jharkhand became the first State to request the Central Police Organisation to impart such training. After reviewing the parade and inspecting the guard of honour at the Recruitment Training Centre (RTC) at Thakkolam, near here, on Saturday, the Additional Director-General of Police, C.B. Satpathy, said the second batch of constables from Jharkhand would start their training session at the RTC soon. The trainees got orientations on issues such as major legal provisions, law and order, crime investigation, human rights, police duties/behaviour, offences against women, elders, children and weaker sections, role of police in disaster management, terrorism and anti-terrorist tactics, Mr. Satpathy said. Physical training, weapon handling, drills, counter insurgency methods, VIP security and field crafts and tactics comprised the outdoor training programme. The constables were put through rigorous training on handling various modern weapons as well. The Jharkhand authorities sought certain inputs for their constabulary, which was provided by the Centre. On CISF's role in the public sector undertakings, in the backdrop of growing emphasis on disinvestment, Mr. Satpathy said the organisation would withdraw its force wherever the companies were not able to pay the force. D.P. Parihar, principal, said the RTC was CISF's largest centre conducting specialised courses such as Quick Reaction Team, Special Task Force and training courses for Air Force personnel.
Awards distributed
The Additional Director-General of CISF distributed awards and trophies to the constables who excelled in various events.
